In addition to the members' gallery where eight selected photos are shown for each member, the northumberland photo club has set up an interactive photo gallery using coppermine technology. Once registered, members can upload and organize photos without any further approvals.

Coppermine FAQs
General
Question: How do I get permission to upload photos and also have my own Gallery?
Answer: You need to be a member of the Northumberland Photo Club. If you are not already a member and would like to be, please come to one of our meetings (see about us page). Once you are a member - see next question - the upload option becomes available. Look at the top navigation bar. This process is required by the administrator to help prevent abuse. Only club members can obtain a user name and password.
Question: How do I get a user name and password?
Answer: Please send an email to John Draper to request registration as a member. In your email, mention that you want a coppermine user name and password. In your email, you can suggest what user name and password you'd like.
Question: How do I login?
Answer: Click on the login box at the top right and enter your user name and password. If you want, you can check “Remember Me” so you will be logged in on the site if you should leave it. Note that Cookies must be enabled and the cookie from this site must not be deleted in order to use “Remember Me”.
Question: What if I forgot my password?
Answer: Use the “Forgot password” link.
Question: What if I changed my email address?
Answer: Just login and change your email address through “Profile”.
Question: How do I save a picture to “My Favourites”?
Answer: Click on a picture and click on the “picture info” link(
); scroll down to the picture information set and click “Add to fav”.
The administrator may have the “picture information” on by default.
Note: Cookies must be enabled and the cookie from this site must not be deleted.
Question: How do I rate a file?
Answer: Click on a thumbnail and go to the bottom and choose a rating. Available only to members.
Question: How do I post a comment for a picture?
Answer: Click on a thumbnail and go to the bottom and post a comment. Available only to members.
Question: How do I upload photos?
Answer: Go to “Upload” and select the album that you want to upload to. Click “Browse” find the file to upload (up to five), and click “open”. Add a title and description if you want. Click “Submit”.
Question: Where do I upload a picture to?
Answer: You will be able to upload a file to one of your albums in “My Gallery” or you can upload to either the public gallery or the members gallery. Each gallery has several albums.
Question: What type and size of a file can I upload?
Answer: The maximum size is currently set for 1024 KB with a 1024 pixels maximum dimension. All image types (jpg, png, etc.) are allowed.
Question: How can I view other users' galleries?
Answer: Go to “Album List” and select “User Galleries”.
Question: How do I create my own Personal Gallery - that is, a member's gallery?
Answer: Once you login, on the home page there is a third navigation bar that will include create/order my albums. Click that button then on the new page click + New Album. Enter the name of your choice. I chose My gems. Then click OK. Now if you move a file (next FAQ) or upload a file, one of the options will be the My gems or whatever name you gave it.
Question: How do I change the album my photo is in - also other properties?
Answer: Use Edit file information. To get there, find the photo you want to modify - with your name underneath - and double click it. This puts you in a mode best for viewing individual photos with the photo at mid-size - about half the screen width. Immediately at the bottom of the image are: Crop and Rotate - Edit File Information - DELETE THIS FILE Under these is the photo title. Click "Edit File Information" to edit the file. For example, next to “album” is the current album then a small down arrow. Click the down arrow to select from a list of the available albums. Then at the bottom, click “Apply Modifications” and you have changed the album.
Question: How do I add a smilie?
Answer: When writing a comment, put your cursor where you want the smilie, then click the one you want. You'll see the code for the smilie inserted and when you've finished, it will turn into a smilie. If you know the smilie code, you can just type them directly.
Question: How do I send an ecard - a photo with a short message attached?
Answer: Access the individual file viewing mode. To get this, find the photo you want to send making sure it has your name underneath and double click it. This puts you in a mode with the photo at mid-size - about half the screen width. Immediately at top of the image are small icons for navigation plus one that is a white E on a blue background with a bar on top. Click this and you can send the photo as an ecard to someone.
Question: What are cookies?
Answer: Cookies are a plain text piece of data that is sent from a website and is put on to your computer.
Cookies usually allow a user to leave and return to the site without having to login again and other various chores.
Question: Where can I get this program for my site?
Answer: Coppermine is a free Multimedia Gallery, released under GNU GPL. It is full of features and has been ported to various platforms. Visit the Coppermine Home Page to find out more or download it.

Navigating the Site
Question: What's “Album List”?
Answer: This will show you the entire category you are currently in, with a link to each album. If you are not in a category, it will show you the entire gallery with a link to each category. Thumbnails may be a link to the category.
Question: What's “My Gallery”?
Answer: This feature lets users create their own galleries and add, delete or modify albums as well as upload to them.
Question: What's the difference between “Admin Mode” and “User Mode”?
Answer: This feature, when in admin-mode, allows a user to modify their gallery (as well as others if allowed by the administrator).
Question: What's “Upload Picture”?
Answer: This feature allows a user to upload a file (size and type is set by the site administrator) to a gallery selected by either you or the administrator.
Question: What's “Last Uploads”?
Answer: This feature shows the last uploads to the site.
Question: What's “Last Comments”?
Answer: This feature shows the last comments along with the files posted by users.
Question: What's “ Most Viewed”?
Answer: This feature shows the most viewed files by all users (whether logged in or not).
