WATERFOWL WEEKEND PHOTO DISPLAY OPPORTUNITY, MARCH 17-18, 2012

SOME MEMBERS MAY BE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING: LOOKS INTERESTING

Hi,

My name is Lisa McPherson and I am currently organizing the 36th annual Waterfowl Weekend at Presqu’ile Provincial Park.  I was wondering if anyone in your club would be interested in displaying Photographs at this year’s event.  This year the Weekend falls on March 17th and 18th.  The Waterfowl Weekend celebrates the migrating ducks through Presqu’ile, we are on a natural flyway and can have thousands of waterfowl stop here for us to witness.

Currently, I am going to displaying some taxidermy and possibility a few carvings from my father and myself.  I feel displaying photography would bring forth a new perspective on Waterfowl Week, as photography is coming to the forefront of peoples interests.  If you are interested please contact me via this email or by phone (number located below).

I have been in contact with two other photographers who are interested as well.  I was also thinking a wonderful way to present photography would be an informal how-to for people starting out.  I know there is a world full of gadgets for photography and people would love to see what other people are using, so they can get started in the trade.

I would love to show locals work and bring focus to Waterfowl (ducks, geese and swans) through a lens!

Look forward to hearing from you,

 Lisa McPherson

“We Live Here” books still need to be sold

THE FOLLOWING IS AN UPDATE FROM STEPHEN DELLA CASA REGARDING SALES OF OUR BOOK “WE LIVE HERE”. NOTE THERE ARE STILL BOOKS FOR SALE.THEY WILL MAKE GREAT GIFTS FOR THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE OR OCCASION THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. BUY THEM WHILE THEY LAST!

Dear members of the NPC

The We Live Here book has sold about 435 copies and we have 365 more
to sell. Through this project, members of our club have helped raised
$17 400.00. For the Northumberland United Way. With the general
campaign, we are now 98% to our target of $925 000 and to help us get
there, I would like to personally ask each and everyone of you to
consider buying, a book, another book or a few more books. Please
consider allocating some of the money that you would spend on buying
gifts for others this year and use the We Live Book as that gift. They
would make great gifts to your friends and family and co-workers With
this project, our hope is to raise $28 000.  Please help us to make
this a reality!

If you did not know, over 1 in 3 people in Northumberland County use a
United Way funded service. I have been to the many of the United Way
funded agencies and spoken with many recipients of services. I have
seen what these challenging economic times have done to some families.
I know of parents that used to have decent work now work for minimum
wages and struggle to make their bills and payments. Services are
getting delivered, but the need has never been greater in our
community. On a positive note. Today, I just heard about a about a
gentleman of advanced age that just learned how to read though the
help of the READ center of Northumberland!!

The We Live Here books are $40 and are available at The Avid Reader
bookstore, The Woodlawn Inn or at The United Way Office, 600 William
St Cobourg. Tel 905 372-2235

Change starts here.

Be well,
Stephen

If this could be sent to me by tomorrow there would be a good chance that you could receive your newsletter on, or before, Christmas Day! Now, what better way to bring “Joy to the World”?!!

PALOUSE PHOTO TOUR AUGUST 2012

There is still space available for one more person on the Palouse photo tour with André Gallant in August 2012. The tour is limited to 5 people. This
concept was launched by Jeff Gardner who will pass any interest on to André who will act as the trip leader. André’s reputation with NPC members is incredible, anyone who has been on one of his workshops returns raving about how much they have learned and the great time they had. It’s a relaxed and very creative experience.

The Palouse (an area near Washington State) is an incredible place to photograph. Rolling hills, fields of wheat and canola, rustic barns and dramatic clouds are some of the things we will be photographing over the period of one week. André agreed to lead a photo tour of the area at harvest time. A photo tour is not a workshop. It is less structured with more emphasis on photography – more “A road trip with André & Friends”. As your leader, André will take you to some of his favourite spots to photograph in the Palouse , but be prepared to get lost, as this is how new favorite shooting spots are discovered. The week will be spent driving around chasing light as well as compelling scenery to photograph

For details and a sample of images please see:
